Hey Family!
I have been feeling for a while a big push to do family history and just haven't gotten my bum in gear to do it, but for the last few months the idea that has been impressed upon my mind several times, has been to start with writing/gathering our family history from those now living. My idea is to have an extended family blog for the Smith family, which as you can see, I am currently calling Smiths with Swagger! I thought this would be a good way to gather information, share memories, pictures, stories that we remember about each other, build family relationships, and help us to feel more connected as a family since we are so spread out geographically.
I was thinking it would be cool to highlight one person a month and to assign one family to choose who that person will be for that month. I can create and send a list out so that each family knows when it is their month to choose a person to spotlight. You could post a picture or many pictures of that person, tell a fun story you remember about that person, etc., then other extended family members can share things about that person as well. I think this would be a good way for us to get to know each other better, grow closer as a family, and begin writing our family story now! We have an amazing family full of talented people, but I think there is so much we really don't about about one another because we don't get to spend time together often. But what a great way to learn about each other and discover wonderful things about our family that we had no idea about!
